Start at Feherlofia
My name is Kinga Gergely. I’m the new co-worker of the association Feherlofia. I was born the 30th April 1979 in Marosvasarhely (Romanian: Tirgu Mures) and I’ve also lived there. From 2000 to 2004 I studied Geography in Kolozvar (Romanian: Cluj Napopca) at the Babes Bolyai University. These years of studying have aroused my interest in certain work fields. The Christian way of living is very important to me and within this framework I’d also like to work with the youth. I hope that my work in Feherlofia will permit me to transmit the importance of community and the life within it to the youth in a familial atmosphere, which can be a source of strength for everybody. With my activity I’d like to support young people in order to develop their personality, so that one day they can successfully blend in society.
In July I attended a summer camp in Turia with the youth Feherlofia for two weeks. This camp meant very much to me because that way I could have a view on their way of life. After the summer camp I organised a reencounter with talks, evaluation of the camp and several games. I’ve also started to visit the flat-sharing communities, in order to get to know the children, the adolescents and the educators. From their third to their 21st year of life children and teenagers live in the flat-sharing communities. On Friday I invited the older girls, who are more than 14 years old, separately, in order to get to know them better and find out what they are interested in. Afterwards, on Saturday I invited the youngest ones, which are 12 little children, and I also organised a program for them. We played together, drew pictures and learned some songs. It was a wonderful feeling to see the joy in their faces.
Now I’m preparing excitedly for the coming programs, which is a great challenge for me. But I know that it’s our task to pass on the things we’ve learned and that life has offered us.
